We're working on rubbish
I WOULD like to thank Mr Radford for his letter (Idea to solve rubbish issue, February 21) regarding ideas for the June moving out period for students — and assure him that I have been planning and thinking about a good solution from July last year!
We will of course be raising awareness of the recycling centres and how to dispose of rubbish well in advance of the move-out period in June, but we're also looking into solutions for students that don't have access to a car.
-

The SU and the university strongly discourages students from bringing cars, and therefore there are many students who will be unable to get their rubbish to the centres in that way, something that became very apparent to us last year.
I'm meeting with the recycling department of the council in early March to see if we can arrange extra collections as another way to help our community during this busy period.
