PORT Talbot youngsters have been transformed into Beancaneers after completing 12 good deeds.
As part of a new education scheme devised by zany fundraiser Captain Beany — 25 pupils at Sandfields Primary have become members of Captain Beany's Beancaneers Academy.

The orange crusader said the good deeds the children carried out ranged from cleaning the cooker to going shopping.

"They all received a goody bag and have officially become Beancaneers."
Beany now hopes to roll out his scheme to other schools.
"What we are hoping to do is get funding to make this a national curriculum based scheme," he said.
"I really enjoyed the pilot scheme and I hope this will be the start of something for the captain."
