Call to use cash for free meals
THE Welsh Government is set to receive extra money due to an initiative in England.
Money which Wales is set to receive as a result of a new school meals initiative should be used to fund a similar scheme, according to Welsh Lib Dem education spokesman Aled Roberts.
Deputy prime minister Nick Clegg announced on Tuesday that every child in infant schools in England is to receive free lunches for their first three years.
This means that under the government funding Barnett Formula, Wales is set to receive around £30 million.
Mr Roberts said: "We want to see the Welsh Labour Government do something similar to ease the pressure families in Wales are under."
