Part-time degree support is delayed
SUPPORT for students doing part-time degrees has been delayed.
It was set to come into force in the coming academic year, but a revised scheme will be in place in 2014/15.
Following a consultation group on the changes, Education Minister Leighton Andrew said: "It is clear that while stakeholders and delivery partners welcomed my announcement and the proposed move towards greater parity between full-time and part-time study, there is strong support for a further delay in implementation of the revised arrangements.
"Having considered the views of the working group and stakeholders, I have decided therefore to postpone implementation of a revised system for part-time higher education tuition fees and student support until academic year 2014/15."
