A SPORTS teacher from Carmarthen will be swimming more than 1,000 lengths to raise funds to buy new school equipment.
Ian Marks from Johnstown is planning to swim 16 miles, the distance he travels from home to work, to raise money for new sports equipment for Ysgol Y Ddwylan in Newcastle Emlyn, where he works.

"I have never tried anything like this before. I used to be swimmer over 10 years ago."
Mr Marks is not only raising money for new school sports equipment but he is also fundraising for the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society, because his mother suffers with it.
The challenge will begin at 6am and Mr Marks is hoping to complete the 1,024 lengths in just 10 hours.
So far the sports teacher has raised £400 but is hoping to reach £1,000.
"I want to raise money for the sports department because the equipment needs replacing and I want the children to have the best possible equipment," he said.
If you would like to make a donation you can send them to Ian Marks at Ysgol Y Ddwylan, New Road, Newcastle Emlyn, SA38 9BA.
