POLICE are investigating a series of house burglaries in the Gorseinon and Loughor areas.

The latest burglaries have taken place in Glan yr Afon, Bryngwyn Village, Gorseinon and Waun Road, Loughor.

There have been four similar incidents in the Garden Village area since November.

The latest burglary at Glan y Afon happened between 11.15pm on Thursday, January 28 and 6.30am the next day.

Among the items stolen were an LG sound system, two mobile phones, a driving licence, a handbag and purse, together with keys and cash debit and credit cards.

Also stolen from outside the house was a silvered coloured Vauxhall Corsa, car registration number CV57 DMU, which has not been recovered.

It is believed the owners were asleep in the house at the time of the incident.

Thieves then struck at a property at Waun Road, Loughor, on Monday, February 1, between 7.30am and 8.45pm.

They got away with a Panasonic television, two laptop computers and a Sky HD box.

It is believed that at time of the incident, a green coloured Ford Fiesta was seen in the area.

Members of Llwchwr Council expressed concern about the number of burglaries in the Garden Village area at their full council meeting.

Councillor Wendy Evans said: "It is very worrying and I know people are concerned about the spate of burglaries in the area in recent months."

A police spokesman has advised homeowners to ensure their properties are securely locked and all valuables hidden away.

He said: "We would advise all homeowners to ensure that all doors and windows are locked when they go to bed or leave the house.

"If you have a burglar alarm ensure it is set and don't leave keys or valuables on display. Also, postcode all valuables."
