The 19-year-old is already one of America's top models, but is studying broadcast journalism at the University of Southern California and wants to be the voice of her generation.
Lily told InStyle magazine: "Ultimately I want to be the youngest person ever to have a talk show. I'd love to be the voice of young Hollywood."
The brunette beauty currently works as a presenter for kids TV channel Nickelodeon and writes for Teen Vogue.
Lily rarely sees singer Phil, 57, who split from her mother Jill Tavelman, his second wife, when Lily was only six.
But Lily says of her father: "We're so close.
"Nothing makes me prouder than when someone tells me my dad's music has touched them.
"But I'm also proud to be doing my own thing.
"There were so many times I could have played on my name but I always steered away from it.
"Now I've realised the name Collins can open doors but it's up to me to keep them open."
