The actress - who plays Sharpay Evans in the hit Disney film series - vowed to always stay in touch with the rest of the cast, including Vanessa Hudgens, Zac Efron and Corbin Bleu.
Ashley said: "We'll see each other all the time, we live right next to each other. Me and Vanessa will probably still go shopping together all the time.
"Even when we're apart and I'm in New Zealand doing a movie and she's in Texas doing a movie, we're constantly calling each other. Zac is always over and Corbin lives just down the block from us as well. We always keep in touch. It's a family that we will always cherish forever."
The 23-year-old confessed it was hard filming the end of High School Musical 3.
She said: "It was hard, it was definitely really emotional. It's weird, we're all best friends and we all have so much fun together. When we're not doing interviews and we're not working we're all hanging out together. We're so close. It's been a dream job."
And Ashley will miss her character too.
She said: "Sharpay is smart and she always knows what she's doing even though she acts like she doesn't. She loves to perform. She's one of my most favourite characters I've ever played, I have so much fun playing her and it's kind of sad to step out of her shoes and leave them behind."
