It says it needs the money to tackle a £17million black hole in its finances.

“Are we seriously expected to take Councillor Holley seriously when he says that closing the well-used tennis centre is "a financial decision?" This in the week when the council refused to open overflow car parking on St Helens recreation ground for a University Open Day thereby turning down guaranteed revenue.
This story smells of a rotten backroom deal.”

“If the land is valuable, it should be sold. That way the council can raise much needed cash. It's not the council's job to hold on to valuable land. Most people don't want a tennis centre. They would prefer the land to be sold and to have lower council taxes.”

“The Council want this land to flog - off ! ..... They also want to flog off the land opposite , .....where the Swansea Vale Railway was recently desecrated at Upper Bank to make way for an all year round ski slope ... which will be another White Elephant !”

“Spot on Paul Jones if the council are incapable of making a profit from running the Tennis Centre, LC2, and the Liberty Stadium, they should sell them off to private enterprise.”

“It`s quite simple now, here is an opportunity for private enterprise to take over this centre. The council would talk to any suitable parties, so who`s first.”

“It is not about the £50k it's planning to save. How much is the land it is on worth is more the fact. It is is a prime position and a lame excuse isn't going to hide this.”
