An overwhelming majority of people believe the health minister should step in over Hywel Dda Health Board’s plans to shake up hospital services.
So far, 82 per cent of people who have taken part in the Star’s online poll believe minister Lesley Griffiths should intervene over the health board’s decision to replace A&E at Prince Philip Hospital with an urgent care centre and an acute emergency medical admissions unit.

Just 18 per cent have voted otherwise.
This week, Tony Wales, chairman of Hywel Dda Community Health Council (CHC), said the scrutiny body would be using its powers of referral to send the plans to the Assembly for a final decision following the board’s approval of the recommendations last week.

But a Welsh Government spokeswoman said this should only be done as “a last resort”.
