It's medal joy as Harriers produce star performances

CARMARTHEN Harriers won six medals at the Welsh Indoor Athletics Championships in Cardiff.

They took four golds and two bronze medals.

Nikita Neary won two gold medals. In the under-15 boys' 800 he set a new Welsh indoor best performance and championship best performance when he won in a time of 2.04.30.

Nikita won the 1500m in 4.20.61, which was also a Welsh championship best performance.

At under-15 level, Carys Jones won the pole vault with a personal best performance of 2.76m.

Aled Price, an under-17 athlete, won the Welsh senior long jump championship with a leap of 6.61m.

Rhys Granville won bronze in the under 17-boys' 800m with a time of 1.59.22. The first three in the race broke the previous championship best performance.

Emyr Jones with a fine leap of 4.04m won bronze in the senior men's pole vault.

The Brianne Schools Cross Country Championships will be held at Tregib School, Llandeilo, on Monday, with the first event at 1pm. The Dyfed Secondary Schools Cross Country Championships are at Dinefwr Park on February 7.

Carmarthen Harriers AGM will be at 7.30pm on Wednesday, February 8, at the Ivy Bush Royal Hotel.
