Where's your argument?
YOUR correspondent RS Campbell seems to me under the misapprehension that Welsh is the language of the United Kingdom — what a nasty surprise to discover that it is English in all its expressive beauty.
He seems to believe that lay members of the public should be responsible for the promulgation of ideas to increase the use of Welsh in the community. That is in the hands of the Commissioner for the Welsh Language Mary Hughes and her advisors, the resurrected Welsh Language Board.
In answer to the comment about the cost of teaching English, the Assembly are given a block grant for this purpose and if Assembly Members wish to direct the funds into financially promoting Welsh then the answer should come from Cardiff under the Freedom of Information Act.
The usual answer to any criticism of the methods of forcing Welsh on the population always seems to result in the suggestion that any persons who do not speak or intend to speak Welsh emigrate.
