There's more to Gower than just beaches
I TOOK a stroll around Penmaen Burrows the other day to explore some of the area's historic remains.
The Burrows hold some fascinating relics from the past but, like so many of the Gower Peninsula's historic sites and monuments, these are hidden away in the landscape without any signpost highlighting their location.

We should be both cherishing and celebrating Gower's historic sites, not keeping them hidden under the pretense of conservation. There are plenty of signposts on the Burrows, announcing the various public footpaths which criss-cross the area.
How difficult would it be to add a little extra wording to direct visitors towards the remains of an early Medieval Church, or the megalithic tomb believed to have been the burial place of Gower's very first settlers, or the Pillow Mound (the artificial rabbit-warrens built to supply meat to villagers during the colder months of the year where meat might be scarce.
The Gower Peninsula is more than just a collection of beaches. Let's start advertising that fact.
