£70m to insulate homes
AN extra £70million of funding to insulate poorer people's homes in Wales has been announced.
The Welsh Government said it will allocate £35million in 2014/15 and £35million in 2015/16 to encourage energy companies to invest in Wales.
Energy companies already have a so-called energy company obligation to improve the energy efficiency of UK homes.
The £70million will be used as match funding to incentivise them to invest in energy efficiency improvements in homes in Wales rather than elsewhere in the UK.
The money was announced as part of the Welsh Government's budget for 2014/15.
"The Welsh Government is committed to tackling fuel poverty," said Minister for Natural Resources and Food Alun Davies.
