AFAN Boat Club stages an open boat cod competition on Sunday, December 11, with a first prize of £500.

The runner-up wins £200 and third £100, plus there is a full table of sponsored prizes.

Entry is £10 per angler. Fishing runs from 8.30am to 5pm, weigh-in from 6pm 7pm with the prize-giving straight after.

Competition entry can be made prior to the day and on the day at the clubhouse from 6am to 8am, with entries closing at 8am.

All fish brought to weigh-in must meet the minimum size of 3lbs, with a limit of one prize per entrant only.

Only fish caught during the nominated period to be weighed in.

The prizes shall be awarded on heaviest cod. In the case of any dispute, the committee decision shall be final.
