A £3 MILLION link road on the outskirts of Swansea will open this month, three months ahead of schedule and on budget.

The 1.5km highway is a Welsh Government-led project and the second and final stage of the Ffordd Amazon road.

The first stage provided access to the distribution centre run by online retail giant Amazon.

It will allow a second access road to be built to serve the £1.2 billion Coed Darcy regeneration scheme.

“By accident I said Newport, meant Port Talbot lol... It would be odd coming back down the motorway and see the sign:

"Welcome to Swansea Bay City Region.
    Population 700,000"

I am sure when the economy is back up and running there are some Swansea traders who would like to expand into Neath as well, and with just one authority to deal with that will be so much easier and cheaper for them to accomplish. Likewise, some of the Neath traders may also want to expand into Swansea by opening a second store.

We just have to hope that the authority uses it's head and supports them by giving them a nice little break to make the expansion viable.”

“Philosoraptor give us 50 years and Swansea might end up looking like New York. Swansea, Swansea bay. so good they named it twice.”

“I fully agree, Neath would benefit massively from it as would Swansea, Llanelli and Newport. We just need to make sure we get rid of First Cymru before it happens because they will somehow manage to mess up the bus journeys lol

The Swansea Bay region, with nearly 1,000,000 population and ample building space available is supposedly very enticing to companies. Especially when we are also comparatively cheap labour.”

“Philosoraptor i think the best way forward is for us to become one big city. Swansea bay city, sounds good to me”

“Neathboy, my comment was a "versus" comment, it was merely an observation that had also been made by those I know who are from NPT. In fact, it was them saying it that made me write this because I hadn't given it much thought, but after they pointed it out to me it did strike me as an irony.”

“All this Neath verses Swansea is all a bit silly to me. Look at the big picture and stop being so typically small minded. It's no wonder many say the Welsh are too inward looking.”

“The irony is that this development will benefit the city of Swansea more than Neath, because the residents are closer to Swansea so they will just go there for a shopping spree.”
