RESIDENTS have moved in to a £2.5 million new homes development where a Gorseinon landmark once stood.

The Brighton Court development, on the High Street site of the former Roma 2000 fish bar, has been created by local housing provider Grwp Gwalia.

Its 26 one-and two-bedroom apartments have all been let and tenants began moving in this month.

Tenant Andrew Yorke, a factory worker, said: "I've moved house a few times now so I'm really chuffed to have a secure new home that I can call my own. My daughter can now come and stay in a more settled home."

Lesley Penn, executive director of Gwalia Neighbourhood, said: "Due to high demand for affordable housing in the Gorseinon area, many of the new homes were allocated before development work was finished.

"It's great to be able to offer someone like Andrew suitable affordable housing near his family and friends. It's also really good news for Gorseinon town centre, the new households will no doubt support the businesses here and contribute to the area's continued commercial regeneration."
