Some people say the earth is flat,
And others its shaped like a football.
This argument's gone on for so long,
I'm beginning to think I'm the screwball.
Gulliver's Travels got another one going,
Which was — which end of a boiled egg should be opened?
The semi-symmetrical egg they are poking,
As a chicken's never bellicose nor foul-spoken!
The argument now's about council tax,
Should this go up down or sideways?
The wastage of revenue printing
"free-newspaper" facts,
Goes down the sink trap in a tidal wave.
