No pleas in phone scam case
A GROUP of nine people have appeared in court for a second time, charged with an alleged large-scale UK-wide mobile phone scam.
The group, of eight men and one woman, are from Sketty, Mayhill, Manselton, Brynmill, Gowerton and Port Talbot.
Two others are from Plymouth and Bristol.
They group all face a charge of conspiracy to defraud.

The charge related to a bogus mobile phone insurance scheme which is alleged to have targeted people through cold calling.
The accused are Christopher Mark Davies, 30, of Bickleigh, Plymouth; Wayne Ghosh, 42, from Coedfan, Sketty; Helen Lianne Lewis, 27, of Monterey Street, Manselton; Craig Odger, 28, of Park Place, Brynmill; Andrew Malcolm Patterson, 31, of Pen y Dre, Gowerton; Craig Pitman, 31, of Crown Street, Port Talbot; Mark Rees, 49, of Cedric Close, Sketty; and Christopher John Surnam, 46, of Rembrandt Court, Swansea.
Omar Humayan Mapara, 31, of Portishead, Bristol, also faced an additional charge of conspiracy to defraud in that between September 2009 and February 2012, and four counts of false representation.
Judge Huw Davies was asked to give the prosecution extra time before the hearing where the group will be asked to enter their plea.
Swansea Crown court was told there was more than 300 hours of covert surveillance and more than 1,300 exhibits to look through.
He said the prosecution papers were likely to total more than 10,000 pages and would be given to the defence on individual hard drives.
None of the nine entered pleas during the brief hearing.
Judge Davies set a hearing date of March 1 where the group will be asked to enter their pleas.
