We do not want turbines

Monday, February 23, 2009, 07:00

FOR I can't remember how long, I have had different notices to put in my newsagent's window from local people, desperate to preserve our community and environment. Their concerns are considered and deep. We are a small community. However, the petitions, letters and meetings surely make the message plain to wind farm companies: don't ask for permission to install wind turbines too close to Glyncorrwg.

The people of our village have taken the time to analyse the costs and benefits of wind turbines, and take green issues very seriously. For the best possible reasons, therefore, councillors and members of Parliament should be responding to planning applications for wind farm companies and rejecting them according to the voice of the majority of people.

I would like to see the Government give more help to local farmers. Give them better help so they do not need to accept offers from wind turbine companies.
