Three face charges over DJ's death

Friday, November 21, 2008, 17:32

TWO men and a woman have been remanded in custody for allegedly supplying heroin to Llanelli DJ Marcus Cleobury, who was found dead in a back lane.

Darren Charlton Pantall, aged 42, of Cwrt Pandora, Quayside, Gareth John Ladd, aged 37, of Cwrt Mary Welch, and Jade Louise Williams, aged 24, of Old Lodge, appeared before town magistrates yesterday, where they all denied the charge.

As they appeared in court, Mr Cleobury's family published a statement, via the police, expressing the devastation his death had caused.

His mother, whose name was not released, said: "Words just don't seem enough to describe the heartache and pain of losing my cherished, much-loved son Marcus.

"The overwhelming sense of love and pride I felt for him the minute he was born is with me now and will remain, not just with myself but his devoted aunties, uncle and cousins forever."

Pantall and Ladd face a charge of supplying an unknown quantity of the class A drug to Mr Cleobury between November 14 and 15.

Williams faces a charge of supplying the drug to Ladd, Pantall and Mr Cleobury on November 14.

Extensive searches were carried out at several properties and toxicology reports had been prepared, the court heard.

The court was also told that the 22-year-old's body was found in a lane behind Glanmor Terrace.

Pantall was also charged with possessing amphetamine and two Ecstasy tablets on November 16 and with possession of Ecstasy and cannabis resin on November 18. To these charges, he entered no plea.

On separate matters, unemployed Pantall pleaded guilty to possessing 0.31 grams of cannabis, breaching conditional discharges and three offences of criminal damage for which he was sentenced to two months in prison.

All three defendants will next appear before Llanelli Magistrates Court on November 27 via video link.

Police are still appealing for anyone who has information which could help the investigation to contact them on 0845 330 2000.
