Worth exploring
Given the considerable achievements of both, it is hardly surprising.
They're good. They're hugely popular. And, of course, they bring vibrancy to their communities.
The trouble is, that just like many of our schools, they also cost a lot of money to run.
So maybe the revelation that both centres are at the very least looking at their future plans is no great surprise.
Just as is the case with a handful of Swansea schools being looked at in the same light at the moment, there will be those who will brand it as educational vandalism. But will its students be short-changed as a result? Not necessarily.
Of course, no one wants job losses. And we hope that will not be the case. But change happens. And if it is found a merger would lead to a better education for students at both colleges, it is at least worth exploring just a little further.
