Torchwood cameras roll in city

Monday, September 29, 2008, 09:00

DOCTOR Who spin-off Torchwood is understood to be filming in Swansea this morning.

Film crews and cast members with the hit BBC Wales show are thought to be somewhere near the St Helen's recreation ground.

Trailers were spotted there this morning but no members of the cast have been seen so far.

Torchwood features John Barrowman, as Captain Jack, and Eve Myles, as Gwen Cooper, who are both members of a secret organisation tasked with investigating alien activity on Earth.

Their fictional base is beneath the water feature artwork by the Wales Millennium Centre, but filming has taken place all over Wales.

Parent series Doctor Who has regularly been filmed in Swansea, with locations including Rhossili Bay, the old central library and the marina area all featuring.

Aussie singer Kylie Minogue visited the city in July 2007 to film a Titanic-themed Christmas special, in the Exchange Buildings next door to the South Wales Evening Post building in Adelaide Street.
