Time to give your heroes their reward
The deadline for Lord Mayor Community Regeneration Award nominations has been set for Friday.
Community groups, individuals, businesses and agencies can all be nominated for their involvement in schemes that make a real difference to the communities they serve.
The awards are split up into seven categories including best community information scheme, best community education venture, best community environmental project and best community safety scheme. Swansea Council's Community Regeneration Unit is organising the awards.
Other awards include the overall winner, the most supportive local business, the best voluntary service scheme and the Ian Spratling Award for outstanding youth contribution. Lord Mayor Gareth Sullivan (pictured) said application forms had started arriving but there was still time to send in nominations.
He said: "It's time those who selflessly give for the benefit of others are recognised and it's up to people in communities across Swansea to ensure our unsung heroes are honoured."
Application packs can be picked up from local community partnerships, district housing offices, community centres and libraries.
They are also available online at www.swansea.gov.uk/ regenawards or by calling 01792 635010.
