Priestland grateful for legends' guidance

RHYS Priestland has hailed the input of two Welsh kicking kings as he looks to shine in the Scarlets No. 10 shirt again.

The young fly-half shone with the boot against the Dragons last Friday, landing six penalties from six attempts to give the West Wales region a vital Magners League win.

And he believes his improvement in front of goal is largely down to the coaching he has received from two kicking legends — Neil Jenkins and Stephen Jones.

The duo are the top two points-scorers in Welsh international history, and Priestland is reaping the benefit of their advice.

"Steve's been great for me ever since I've come here," he said.

"I've never felt afraid to ask him anything. To be fair, he takes time out to help me. We'll watch a video and he'll pick up on something I've done and give me a bit of advice.

"I started seeing Neil Jenkins a few weeks ago and he's been very good for me, he's given me a lot of confidence.

"There were things I was doing before that I stopped so he's been really good in pulling me back in the right direction.

"When you warm up it's a bit disheartening when every one of his kicks lands straight at you and he's running all over the place after yours.

"He's still a quality kicker and I learned so much when I was at the academy with him.

"He's been so good for me."
