Magic for kids as Lee signs up

THIS year's Evening Post Christmas Cheer bash will have some extra sparkle — thanks to a very special guest.

The visitor causing all the fuss isn't the man in the red suit and white beard — but the one in the magic daps

Former Swans striker Lee Trundle will be popping in to the party to meet the remarkable youngsters taking part, and to hear their stories of courage.

The evening, which is organised by the Evening Post and Sainsbury's, aims to provide some festive fun for youngsters who have battled illness, tragedy or adversity.

And Lee — dubbed Magic Daps by Swans fans — has pledged his full support.

He said: "I'll be going to the Christmas Cheer party next month — it's always special for the kids.

"I'll definitely be coming along to show my support and to see everyone there.

"I like to do whatever I can to help. When you're in a privileged position, it's good to help those who haven't been so lucky."

He added: "I always enjoy coming back to Swansea because it's a place I love."

Lee and the children will also be joined by Bumbles of Mumbles characters and Father Christmas, who is taking a break from his work at the North Pole to collect Christmas lists during the evening.

There will also be plenty of fun with city troupe Circus Eruption displaying their juggling skills, and music from Port Talbot DJ firm Cosmic Sounds.

Sainsbury's deputy manager Jim Conway said the Sunday, December 7, party would be a night to remember for everyone involved.

He said: "There is a lot of interest in the Swans, so I am sure my colleagues will be looking forward to it, and the children will be excited to see Lee Trundle.

"We do our best to try to help events in the community.

"The Christmas Cheer party has been very successful over the past few years, and the staff are really looking forward to it."
