Immigration row newlyweds face new legal fight to stay together
Rhiannon George's husband Colin was taken away by immigration officials the day the couple were due to go on honeymoon.
The university student — along with his mother, father and sister — was set to be sent back to Pakistan. But a dramatic 11th-hour ruling by a judge halted the deportation and allowed the 21-year-old to come back to Swansea into the arms of his beloved wife.
Overjoyed, Rhiannon said: "When Colin was taken away 48 hours after our wedding, it felt like a living nightmare. I'm so relieved to have him back, but it's just the beginning of a long legal fight for him to stay permanently."
Former Swansea College students Rhiannon and Colin became a couple a year ago after their long-running friendship blossomed into romance. Colin and his parents, George and Veronica, as well as two sisters, fled strife-torn Pakistan after being persecuted for their Christian faith, and settled in Penlan.
