Gower businesses are scooping top awards

GOWER businesses put on a particularly good showing at the Swansea Bay Tourism Awards.

The winners, announced at a glittering ceremony at the Brangwyn Hall, were chosen from more than 150 entries.

It is the second year the awards have been presented. They were hosted by Evening Post editor Spencer Feeney and Swansea Sound's Kevin Johns.

Tourism Swansea Bay spokesman Geoff Haden said: "We were absolutely delighted with the response we had from the tourism sector. We had 400 guests at the ceremony, which shows how the industry is moving forward."

Businesses from Gower to scoop awards included Little Langland Hotel winning best small hotel, Maes-yr-Haf in Parkmill winning best meal out, and Reynoldston's King Arthur Hotel landing best pub or bar.

And there was a special mention for long-serving Jean Bunce, of Mumbles Tourist Information Centre, who was given the outstanding services to tourism award.
