'My BB grandson wasn't in gangs'
It has been widely reported that 26-year-old Darnell was jailed in the US for gang-related crimes and then deported to the UK.
But his 62-year-old gran Pam Macrae has this week hit back at the reports.
She claims Darnell — who is registered blind — was turfed out for not being an American citizen.
She told Celebrity Scoop: "Darnell being deported had nothing to do with gangs — he's never been involved in anything like that.
"Let's face it — would you want a partially sighted person in your gang? Can you imagine him getting a gun out? It doesn't add up.
"It's been in all the papers. But when I read it, I wondered where they'd got it from.
"It's difficult for me to know what he gets up to — but his mum lives over in the States so she would know if he had been involved in gang culture."
Pam, who lives in Resolven, claims Darnell was jailed after he was caught with marijuana.
She told me: "He was stopped with dope and sent to prison, but when it went to court the judge gave him community service. He didn't get a prison sentence.
"But then they found out he didn't have the right paperwork and wasn't an American citizen, so until they kicked him out they put him in a deportation centre."
Albino Darnell is one of the favourites to win the series in Friday's final — but Pam isn't sure how well he'll do.
She told me: "He is popular, but he's been a bit miserable this week. He's not been the nicest person in the world.
"His mum agreed with me that he's been a complete idiot. And she's married to a preacher so she's not very happy about the language.
"I blame Sara. She was all over him and then left him for Stuart. She left Darnell bewildered."
Well, if Darnell's more popular than anyone, it's Sara!
Big Brother has eviction nights on Tuesday and Friday this week.
