A new jail? You have it!
MAY I, on behalf of the Sandfields community, congratulate Brian Arthur (Have Your Say, Aug 30) for his "imaginative" and "visionary" suggestion for the relocation of HM Prison from its present site to a new home on the vacant Vetch Field site in the heart of Sandfields.
I'm sure that we would like to see a modern larger-capacity "stronghold" for "miscreants" built on this prime site. Why stop there? Perhaps we could also have a few late-night lap dancing clubs, bars, etc, thrown in. This would, I'm sure, fulfil the wishes of the Sandfields community, who were given to believe that the vacant site would be used for social private projects, a community centre and children's play area.
Perhaps Mr Arthur wouldn't object to a second prison being built to ease the overcrowding in his own area of Swansea, which I believe is West Cross.
