Plea for witnesses after motorcyclist killed on road
The accident, involving a 32-year-old man, happened approximately 100 yards east of the junction with Water Street, near Lakeside Golf Club.
He was riding a Honda Fireblade, and was travelling with two other riders in a westbound direction. His next of kin are being supported by a police family liaison officer.
Police closed the road in both directions after Friday afternoon's collision. No-one else was injured.
A police spokesman said: "South Wales Police are appealing for witnesses to a fatal road traffic collision which occurred at 3.25pm on Friday at the A48 Margam, Port Talbot.
"There was only one vehicle involved, a Honda Fireblade motorcycle whose 32-year-old male rider, from the Bridgend area, was pronounced dead from his injuries at hospital.
"Witnesses are sought to the collision and to the riding of the motorcycle concerned beforehand as it travelled with two others in a westbound direction along the A48 from Pyle towards Margam."
Witnesses are asked to contact the roads policing unit on 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
