Help save Crucial Crew

Monday, June 22, 2009, 11:52

I AM a concerned volunteer.

For the past 10 years there has been an amazing event held in Swansea called Crucial Crew. You may even have heard of it.

Basically, it is aimed at year six children who visit for a morning or afternoon and get to learn about a range of organisations and charities such as road safety, Childline, healthy eating, emergency services etc in a fun and exciting way. There are so many benefits to this two-week event.

I actually believe it saves lives, the children get to learn, interact and have lots fun in a different environment.

There is so much negativity about youth and young people and this gives opportunities and a different perspective for 10 and 11-year-olds. The event tries to get every single year six class involved.

I have never met so many clever, interesting and excited children. They love it!

So why am I telling you all this? Well, it has been mentioned that it may not be on next year and it was nearly cancelled this year due to funds.

I can't understand how the City and County of Swansea can allow this to happen, it is such a good important and needed event. It angers and upsets me to think next year the children could miss out!

It is currently being held in the Liberty Stadium and I really think people should get involved and find out what's going on.

PLEASE HELP SAVE CRUCIAL CREW.
