Another man, Joshua Davies, 24, of Priors Way, Dunvant, Swansea, is due to appear the following day, on February 15.

No date has yet been set for an eighth man, Adam Gregory, 25, of Ridgeway, Swansea, to appear.

They are all charged with violent disorder, an offence under the Public Order Act.

The fight, on July 14, started on the ground floor of the grandstand and quickly spread to the racecourse itself as punches were exchanged.

Highlight

The fracas took place at around 4pm, shortly after the day's main event — the £250,000 Weatherby Super Sprint.

The race, which was over five furlongs, was the highlight of the second day of Newbury Racecourse's Summer Festival.

A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said: "As a result of police investigations, eight men have now been charged with violent disorder under section two of the Public Order Act."
