Ellie played a big part in Great Britain's summer of sporting success.
The Olchfa School pupil won two golds, a silver and a bronze in this year's London Games.
Ellie, 17, was joined in the Teen Awards by another sportsman, diver Tom Daley, who scooped Male Hottie of the Year and Best British Sports Star.
A partisan crowd nearly lifted the roof of London's Aquatics Centre in August when Ellie found an extra gear in the final length to reel in US rival Victoria Arlen and defend her gold from Beijing in the 400m freestyle.
A tearful Ellie said after the race: "When I touched the wall, I felt every emotion possible apart from sadness.
"When I touched I had nothing left. It was one of the toughest races of my life."
The Radio 1 Teen Awards also recognised pop singers, actors and inspirational youngsters.
Daniel Radcliffe picked up Best British Actor while his former co-star Emma Watson collected Female Hottie of the Year. Highlights from the show will be broadcast on BBC Three at 8pm this evening.
Ellie moved to Swansea from Walsall to train at the city's Wales National Pool.
Her coach, Billy Pye, has been nominated in the High Performance Coach category in this year's Sport Wales Coach of the Year.
David Morris, of Swansea, has been nominated for his archery and shooting efforts in the Volunteer of the Year category, while Ainsley Richards, also of Swansea, has been nominated in the Young Volunteer of the Year.
Winners will be announced on November 14.
