A FOUR-STRONG group has helped to raise thousands of pounds for charity after taking on a major challenge.

Gary Davies, Jamie McIntosh, Phil Morgan and Phil Tucker, of Burry Port, all took part in the Ironman Wales contest staged in Tenby, to raise cash for forces charity Help for Heroes and the RNLI.

They had to take part in an endurance triathlon, which included a 2.1 mile swim in the sea, followed by a 112 mile bike ride around Tenby, Saundersfoot and Narberth.

Gary's wife Caroline, a manager at Virgin Media in Swansea, of Cysgod y Graig, Burry Port, said they had all done well in the challenge and raised more than £4,000 for the two charities.
