No joy in league for Tata or Bony
THERE was no joy for either Tata Steel or Bonymaen in the Swalec Championship on Saturday.
Mid-table Tata now have a 50 per cent record after losing 22-6 at home to North Wales side RGC1404.
And Bonymaen are still bottom after they failed to improve their record of just one victory this season when they went down 22-10 at mid-table Beddau.
In one of only two Swalec League games played in Wales on Saturday — the other was at Aberbeeg in division six east — Amman United ran in nine tries in their 59-22 division two west home win against mid-table Aberystwyth.
The victory took Amman up from fourth to second.
By half-time they led 24-10, already sealing a bonus point via touchdowns from No. 8 Sean Mangan, flanker Andrew Lacey, prop Tom Davies and a penalty try.
Interestingly, Amman have recorded a pushover or penalty try in every one of their eight league games.
In the second half the hosts crossed for five more tries via man of the match Mangan, centre Rhys Thomas, lock Matthew Wrigley, wing Dean Williams and captain for the day Gavin Lewis, who was at centre after Amman decided to experiment with their back positions.
On target with the boot was fly-half Adrian Thomas, who converted twice in the first half and all five in the second half.
