Jordi's a wanted man — and that's a dead cert
They wouldn't give me odds on me pulling on holiday this year.
Said they don't do silly bets.
Talking of long shots, I am worried about Jordi Gomez.
The more you hear about Jordi just now, the more you think he won't be a Swansea City player next season.
And that's a shame.
Gomez has been brilliant for the Swans this year — and that's the problem.
Apparently Espanyol might want him back if they get relegated, and that's starting to look about as nailed on as me having a bath on Sunday night.
And Sunday night is bath night.
If Jordi is wanted back in Spain, there probably isn't much Swansea can do about it.
Sadly, if he isn't wanted back in Spain, there might not be much the Swans can do about it either.
If Espanyol decide to sell then they will hold an auction for the highest bidder and, after 13 goals and counting in the Championship this season, that probably won't be us.
Huw Jenkins and Co deserve credit for keeping Swansea on an even keel since Tony Potty cleared off a few years ago.
We are not about to start complaining, but the problem with that approach is that our lot will usually get blown out of the water if it comes to a bidding war.
If Celtic really are in for Jordi, and word is they are, then I can't see how he'll end up back at the Liberty next season.
If it's not Celtic, it could be one of our richer rivals in the English leagues.
The suggestion is Espanyol haven't got much brass, so they'll be adding as many noughts as possible to Jordi's price tag.
Chances are his representatives will be swayed by cash, so Swansea's only hope will be that Jordi chooses the Liberty because he's enjoyed his time in Wales so much.
If he does that, he will be an exception.
It's not that he hasn't enjoyed being a Swan — as far as we know, he has — it's just that footballers don't often seem to think that way.
There is some consolation.
Just like the bird round the corner doesn't even know my name — although I've been chasing her for about three years — we Jacks had never heard of Jordi Gomez this time last year.
If he does say goodbye at the end of the season, we'll rely on Roberto Martinez to pull another rabbit out of the hat.
