Banging your head against a brick wall
There is always a danger they might miss it, mind you.
I was one of the hardy few who trekked to Doncaster Rovers – which bright spark arranged that fixture for a Tuesday night? – and was pleasantly surprised by much of what I saw.
But things aren't simple with the Swans just now, so there were other bits which left me seeking out that wall.
I was keen to bang my head against it.
Paulo Sousa must have had that feeling a few times, either when news of Swansea's latest injury blow reached the manager's office or when another of his players missed yet another golden chance.
We've got enough crocks to fill a bendy bus at the moment, so it's no wonder the wheels of Swansea's season have at times looked like coming off.
Some say Sousa should be gone already, others that it has been impossible to judge him because of the queues in the treatment room.
Some will tell you that you can't rate any manager after 10 league games and I see what they are saying – although the Swans soon sussed out Kevin Cullis.
But you can't compare our double Champions League winner to the bloke from some pub team near Birmingham.
Most Swansea performances in the last few weeks have not been short of commitment and desire, and they are the first things we fans ask for.
What worries me is that Sousa's signings have not exactly set the Liberty alight, with Craig Beattie's miss at Donny an example of what I'm on about.
It would be wrong to point the finger at him alone, because plenty of Swans players have proved they know how to blow golden opportunities so far this season.
Maybe as the transfer deadline loomed in August, Sousa should have made an offer to Diana Ross.
Can we blame him for players fluffing chances? Probably not, but he's the one who will get fingered if Beattie, Gorka Pintado, Cedric van der Gun and the rest carry on failing to make their mark.
Sousa keeps telling us the goals will come, and you have to hope he's right when you're talking about a squad of professional footballers.
And if Swansea can find a finish or two, we should be fine.
SOUSA has apparently told the media that he will not comment on injuries.
Someone from above should tell him that he does.
It's like Gordon Brown telling us he is not going to talk about the economy.
I COULD understand if Sousa only didn't want to mention Ferrie Bodde.
Losing the Dutchman for another season, after all, left us all a little lost for words.
I have a heard a few people saying since the injury we should have sold Bodde when we had the chance, but I still say well done the Swans for holding on to their star man.
We can only hope they get their rewards in the end.
