THIS letter is in reply to your article (Post, January 26) regarding Clydach Hospital being axed.

It seems that Councillor Roger Smith has given up the fight to save this hospital already, quote: "All of us accepted that there is no real use for the hospital in future in medical terms.

"The important part is maintenance costs alone are in excess of £40,000 which is an awful strain".

I would like to point out that if Councillor Smith was still on the community council he would have known that they are trying to get the soldiers' charity Healing the Wounds on board so the cost of running the hospital would be reduced.

I would like to know what the people of Clydach and the surrounding area feel about th destruction of this community hospital.

Cllr Gordon David Walker

Clydach

“Is that the same Clydach community council that is under police investigation?

“Here we go again. People playing politics with health care. Since when was Clydach Community Council capable of making a rationale decision that involved costs?”
