The final whistle?
SPORTS officials in Burry Port have accused Carmarthenshire Council of 'washing their hands of sport' in its plan to save £31 million.
The council has announced it could give up parks, playing fields and sports pitches, asking teams and community groups to take on the running of facilities.
But Burry Port RFC coaches fear the costs of maintaining the pitch would prove too much, while the alternative to more than double fees for the use of sports facilities could hit members hard.
