We're far from safe yet, insists Lambert
PAUL Lambert has echoed Brendan Rodgers's message to Swansea City by warning his Norwich side that they are not safe from relegation yet.
The two promoted clubs will meet this weekend as the Canaries travel to South Wales a place and two points better off than their hosts.
Lambert's side beat Bolton 2-0 last Saturday to move 12 points clear of the bottom three after making an even more impressive start to life in the Premier League than Swansea.
Both sides are now outsiders to go down with the bookies, but Lambert insists Norwich cannot afford to relax until survival is guaranteed.
"It's when somebody tells me that's it, that's the time I'll rest," said the Norwich boss.
"When someone says it's mathematically certain, then I'll be okay.
"Saturday's result keeps our heads above water, which is a thing that I want to do. If this club stays in this league, it will be terrific."
Centre-halves Daniel Ayala and Zak Whitbread, both former Swansea targets, were forced off during the victory against Wanderers.
With no specialist cover on the bench, right-back Russell Martin featured at centre-back and was partnered for the final 50 minutes by fellow full-back Kyle Naughton, while winger Elliott Bennett came on to play on the right of the back four.
"That's as good as I've seen in nearly three seasons I've been here because of the circumstances," said Lambert.
"The desire that they showed, I thought they were absolutely brilliant, I really did. They were fantastic.
"I just thought we deserved to win the game. We were dominant right from the off. I thought we might have got another couple of goals. There is no doubt Kevin Davies is an absolute handful, but I thought Kyle and Russell were terrific."
Both Ayala and Whitbread have started every game since New Year's Eve but are doubts for the Swansea trip, so Elliott Ward and Leon Barnett may come in.
"Daniel's got a hamstring injury and Zak has a bit of tightness there, so we just have to wait and see. Daniel looks worse than Zak. I hope Zak will be okay," said Lambert, who criticised some supporters in the wake of last week's 3-0 defeat at Sunderland.
"For all the people who started moaning at us on Wednesday night, then maybe that's the right way to respond," he added. "If you're going to start to moan after one defeat, then you're better not turning up."
