All eyes will be on the skies for the two-day spectacular featuring the Red Arrows, which will commemorate the 40th anniversary of Swansea being granted city status.

The famous RAF display team The Red Arrows will be performing
To cope with an expected influx of thousands of visitors next weekend (11 and 12 July), the council has set up extra parking facilities.
Graham Thomas, Swansea Council's cabinet member for culture, recreation and tourism, said: "This is a much-anticipated event that will bring thousands of people into the city. We've ensured that thousands of additional car parking spaces are being made available to accommodate those who arrive by car."
The Wales National Airshow will stretch along the seafront from the Civic Centre to the Cenotaph. There will be daredevil displays from military planes and helicopters, including the Typhoon Eurofighter and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, as well as trade stands and a fun fair.

“Does n e 1 know how much the carparking charge will be at these new designated parking areas? I'm guessing as it is the council running these parking facilities there will be free parking on the Sunday.”

“Thanks Geoff and Mr Informer, looks like best place for the flying display will be a bit further up from the war memorial then and more towards the uni. probably a safety reason- they fly from the crowds in most shows and not towards them. Point taken on traffic and parking- will set out early( & get wife to drive as i've got work's summer do on the Friday) and park and ride.
If you see a hungover guy with 2 crying toddlers that'll be me!

“Hello Simon Davies Aberdare?
(How I remember the bike racing in Aberdare ) .... If the weather is fine it will be absolutely chocked and gridlocked ! The best advice for
you is park @ the park and ride @ the Liberty Stadium at Morfa and take a bus to Oystermouth Road - St - Helens !”

“Hi all,
Can't wait for the show- sounds great- where's the best place to view? Haven't been before and taking my little daughters who can't walk far -I know from going to RAF St. Athan and RAF Fairford- location makes a big difference. The static displays are between the council offices and the war memorial but is this the best place to get close up and "BLASTED" by the Eurofighter and the rest?”

“I still can't see where the thousands of parking spaces are going to be.
Looking on the website it states singleton park and the rough ground by the cricket club. The only problem will be access to them, as they are all based on the right hand side of the road i:e traffic chaos trying to get in them.
I'd like to see the bendy bus try and get through this.
I will be attending but it looks like an early start in the camper with bikes aboard and park on the Mumbles sea front for a £1.00 less.”

“Rather than just throw up the availability of 1,000's of car parking spaces and invite 1,000's of cars into and through the city - wouldn't this be an ideal opportunity to make most use of existing park and ride facilities? And the cycle and pedestrian commuting for that matter?
Awesome event for the city :)”

“Geoff @Mumbles? In Oct-Nov -04 there was a biased Public Consultation @ £35k regarding the Slipbridge which stated three options !
1,.. Complete removal of structure 2... Refurbishment .
3.. Replacement with similar sructure," the span", (but a slight reduction in width). ! There was also a 4th option which would have been a replacement modern landmark design which complement's the new # sail bridge's at both Morfa and Marina but the Council refused to reveal this to the public because of structural complication's, and DDF compliant ramp's and maintenance cost's over 15 years !”
