ANYONE hoping for a Swansea City shirt will have a long wait unless they wear an extra large size.

The official Swans shop at the Liberty Stadium has not had any home or away kits for sale since Christmas after a festive rush to the tills by fans.

The only team shirts left for this season are three extra large home strips after demand by supporters saw kit flying off the shelves.

Energy Saving Trust monitoring officer Lynsey Dewitt was one of those trying to get a Swans shirt for her husband Adam's 30th birthday.

Mrs Dewitt said: "I think it is madness that you are unable to get a shirt anywhere in Wales, not even in the stores or shops in Swansea or the stadium or supporters club, and for the best team in the Premier League too.

Supporting

"My husband has been a big Swansea City supporter all his life, he married me, an Irish girl, and he's even got me supporting them now too.

"It's his 30th birthday on February 25 this year and I'm trying to get him the shirt, so he can wear it on the match days wherever he may be.

I accidentally shrunk and dyed his other jersey in the wash a few weeks ago, and he was absolutely gutted.

"I just wanted to get him a nice pressie for his 30th, but I am shocked that their shirts are out of stock and with a few months to go before the end of the season how they can let their fans down by not having the shirt there to purchase?

"I just believe that they should order more in to accommodate their supporters, and thought if it came from the media that maybe something could happen," she added.

A member of staff at the official Swansea City store said: "We have sold out of home and away shirts.

"It has been like this since Christmas.

"We have only get three extra large home shirts for sale now.

"With it being the centenary year they have been really popular.

"We have already ordered our shirts now for next season."

“Why the EP thinks this is a good story is beyond me. I'm fully behind how we are run as a club normally but there are still little things that mark us out as small time and this is one of them. No club should ever be running out of shirts even before the end of the season, never mind before Christmas.

Even if we are still selling them at cost price into next season it is better than losing out on sales through lack of planning.”

“I had this problem last christmas, 2011, trying to get an away top for my son. Went up th club shop, to be told none left anywhere, sorry. Walked into debEnhams 3 days later, and there were 5 in his size hanging up. I enquirered as to where they came from, as club shop told me there was none anywhere, and the told me they found them under boxes in store room! The should have anticipated sales from last season, and ordered more this year. To run out in January is shocking. I agree with below comments, they would sell them at the end of season sale, if not before. We are a premier ship team, and our support has increased 10 fold. MORE SHIRTS PLEASE,”

“Better to sell out? You could still sell them at a sale price at the end of the season, AND make a profit. A bunch of tourists were in the shop last week they came out very disappointed, how embarrassing, it's only January now. Employ someone who knows what they are doing. Promoting the Swans? Yeah right.”

“This is the problem when you go with one of the big kit suppliers. You have to place your order months in advance of the arrival date and when they have gone, you cant order any more.
Better to sell out, rather than have thousands unsold.
They have been on sale for 6 months.”
