Wagner: Siegfried Idyll
Prokofiev: Violin Concerto no. 2 in G minor, Op. 63 Wolf: Italian Serenade
Wolf: Italian Serenade
Mendelssohn: Symphony No. 4, Op. 90 'Italian'
Conductor: Gareth Jones
Violin: Bartosz Woroch
Polish born violinist and member of the prestigious Young Classical Artist Trust, Bartosz Woroch has appeared as soloist with the Czestochowa, Poznan, Silesian and Auckland Philharmonic Orchestras, the Bern Symphony and Polish Radio Orchestras. As a chamber musician, Bartosz has appeared in recital at London's most established venues including Wigmore Hall, Barbican and Purcell Room at the Southbank Centre. He has also recorded for BBC Radio 3, Radio France and Polish Radio.
Bartosz joined Sinfonia Cymru in 2012 as guest leader and director and this concert sees an exciting development in the creative relationship between Bartosz and the orchestra as Bartosz takes centre stage in Prokofiev's Violin Concerto No. 2. With rich influences from Russia and Spain, this inspiring concerto will blend beautifully with the pairing of Wolf's Italian Serenade with Mendelssohn's 'Italian' Symphony. This concert has been programmed by Bartosz and the orchestra's Musical Director and conductor for the evening Gareth Jones as part of Sinfonia Cymru's Classic Conversation strand. The works chosen are the result of their conversation. We are thrilled by their ideas and hope that you will be too.
