Taking place on Thursday 22th September at 7.40,
Oystermouth Historical Association's first meeting of the new season is entitled, 'More FALLEN FLYERS', a record of Gower's many wartime air crashes and poignant tribute to those who lost their lives.
An illustrated talk by Steve Jones, author of 'Fallen Flyers'
For more than three decades Steve Jones has held and interest in aviation. His chance discovery of a pistol from a German bomber on a Gower beach sparked a quest to document every wartime aircraft crash on and around the peninsula and find out more about the crews who lost their lives. Hours of research as far afield as Canada and Germany has resulted in this factual record of the many wartime air crashes in the area. Investigation of these incidents and the circumstances surrounding them has generated a unique tribute to those who gave their lives in a seldom told chapter of wartime history spotlighted by incidents in the skies above and around Gower.
