Calling all Comic Fans!

Love comics? Want to find out how they are created and published or maybe you fancy drawing your own? In association with Capital Reads, Cardiff Libraries is hosting a free day of comic-themed events on Saturday 19th January at Cardiff Central Library (next to John Lewis).

For the younger crowd there is a Children’s Comic Book Workshop, aimed at ages 8-12, from 11am to 12pm. Children will have the chance to draw and design their own colourful comics and characters, with all materials provided.

From 1.30pm to 4.30pm adults can attend a Meet the Creators session and have the chance to meet some published comic creators, featuring Mike Collins (Marvel and DC comics, Star Trek and Doctor Who graphic novels) Joe Glass (The Pride, Stiffs) Kris Carter (Transformers, The Pride, Lou Scannon) and Dan Harris (Lou Scannon, 10thology). There will be discussions on panel layout, styles, inking, colouring, lettering, editing and proofing comics, as well as advice on how to break into the industry. This will be followed by a Q&A session.
There will be a chance to win prizes as well as some freebies too.

Cardiff Libraries has a large selection of graphic novels available to borrow so why not join the library and take some home with you, all you need is one form of ID to join.

These exciting events are completely free to attend, but there is a high demand so booking is essential. For further information or to book a place, please contact Grangetown Library (grangetownlibrary@cardiff.gov.uk or telephone 029 2023 0526).
