South Wales Evening Post

I HAVE to write in reply to your story Heartbroken dad is still hopeful (Post, January 26).

Would I get a job in Jordan or any other country if I sought asylum? I'm not prejudice but with millions of people out of work in this country we can't afford to take in any more.

Why can't his wife join him in Jordan? With 5,000 troops who will be looking for work, the Government must get tough.

We already have thousands of illegal immigrants here as it is who don't pay taxes where will it stop.

“On reflection i'm sure D Morris will agree with me that 5,000 soldiers getting made redundant is an excellent thing. Since it was there very same soldiers that invaded this unfortunate family's homeland(Iraq) and caused great destruction and distress for it's people. It's been estimated that up to 500,000 girls and women were kidnapped and sold into sexual slavery whist Iraq was under of the occupying armies. Could this be why this family fled to Jordan!, who knows what horrors they were forced to live through and witness.

What these 5000 who are given the sack will do i have no idea, but even if they spend the rest of their life on the dole it will be more productive that what they achieved in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Who knows one might even take a job at a local fast food outlet, i hear there is one going!. If we have learnt one thing from the past decade or so, it's that military intervention by the west only makes things worse. It would be far better if we spent the £40 billion that we spend on war on aid, we need to change peoples hearts and minds, and that will never happen by bombing them.

Finally i do hope that this man and young children is able to join his British wife here in the UK. We'll all just have to wait and see when the appeal comes through.”
