“Gypsies are a protected species. Regardless of what laws they break the police & Councils ignore them.
There was a case in Essex where there was an illegal Camp which the council& police were doing nothing about. So the local resisents protested outside of this camp and errected a small shelter guess what the council took action against the residents but still ignored the gypsies.
This is the crazy situation we have in the UK”

“Bob that's why I didn't even bother going to the police. They let me down badly last year and I have lost faith in them.
This is why I posted here, becuase you can at least vent the problem so other people can see.
End of the day, I'm not the one who goes to bed at night freezing in an over populated caravan moving around from grass verge to grass verge like some dysfunctional primative leper in a small convoy.
So with that in mind its difficult to feel that angy at them for long, just doing my bit to show what an inevitable disaster these people are.”

“I walked past there today as well. They are making a right mess on what is newly developed land, there are new office buildings there waiting to be filled, who is gona move there now?
I feel really sorry for the Wishes nursery, a lovely new place, hadoken1977 must have been standing in their drive way when he took the photos. They were told by the Police that technically the travellers were doing nothing wrong and there was nothing they could do about them.
These are the same bunch that were all parked up around ASDA, they haven't moved far.
I wont say anything more about the travellers as I have made my view clear in the past and it always ends in my comments being deleted. I will say for safety reasons, do not approach them, they will be very aggressive. This really is a crazy country we live in.”

“I can understand the Gypsy! problem to some extent, especially when it goes against tax paying citizens, Gypsy's! are renowned to wander the lands as Nomads to be fair. Yet nowadays they are accused of discreetly buying up land, to go against any planning application and treat councils and citizens, with utter contempt, just to live there permanently. There is only one law as they see it, (theirs) This has been going on for years in many countries, some will not tolerate any nonsense whatsoever by Gypsies! (Ireland springs to mind here) whilst other are more resentful and compassionate in view to this problems. UK on the whole have in fact bowed down to pressure through, the humanity procedure, as laid down and governed by Brussels. This is now our problem, UK councils through Parliament have their hands well and truly tied. They are unable to take sides, yet are unable to decide on an issue to accommodate the Gypsy! in general into law abiding citizens. What this government and our councils need to take on board, is the fact that Gypsy's! really do wander, sites around UK, are now in place for this. Tinkers on the other hand are not of the true Gypsy! families, so should be treated as such. This is the point, there is a subtle difference in Gypsy's and Tinkers, once it is established who is who, then one can solve the problem amicably for all. Get the Tinkers to join these caravan sites, pay an annual fee then lets see how soon they'll purchase a property and conform to government legislations. They will either become Gypsy's and move around UK, or lose any legal claim by doing so. This should also assist the social security departments, in dealing with all and sundry couture claims by them.”

“THere are very few true gypsies in the UK. Most of what we have are just so called travellers who although called travellers dont even travel much. Most are clearly comiiting criminal offences such as criminal damage , they are also committing a raft of civil offence yet the police & councils just ignore it.
To test this you try say parking up in your local councils car park and see how long they take to evict you. It will not be long.”

“"They were told by the Police that technically the travellers were doing nothing wrong and there was nothing they could do about them."
Dragging limestone blocks out of their place and leaving them in the middle of a road.
Damaging grass verges, placing calor gas bottles with Iittle or no safety standards in place, within a 50 meter radius of childs nursery, damaging any chances of the office space being used.
Its pathetic. And exactly why society is in the state it is, decent people get treated as nobodies while the scum get to do as they please.
Awesome model for a bright future.”

“They certainly seems to a different law for some in this country. They claim they travel and respect the land, I have never seen any evidence of that. The Park and ride site is only a five minute walk from this lot, obviously their not wanted there, by people who supposedly believe in the same way of life as they do.
They are making a mess at MilBrook Drive, but I expect it will us tax payers that have to clean it up as usual, how many times is it now the council have cleared up the Park and Ride site??? and why do they bother, within a week it's back in the same state. It doesn't help that silly MP's stick up for them saying, oh it's fly tippers not the travellers. Why don't they just pop along late in the evening and watch the vans/trucks pull up, dump the rubbish and then park up on their gravelled drive way outside their static caravan. Your not allowed near the place without confrontation, so how do these fly tippers get in there anyway??
The thing that disappoints me the most, is bordering the Park and Ride there is a lovely little lake/pond that used to be a haven for wildlife. On the one side there is an area that has been concreted and a patterned fence constructed alongside the waterside to make a nice safe viewing area for children. Since the travellers moved in, the wildlife has gone and the water is now full of shopping trolleys, old fridges and just about any old scrap you can think of. The council wont even go near the place to cut the grass any-more due to health and safety reasons, It is such a shame.”
