Top cop denies town has gang culture issues
LLANELLI'S new top cop has dismissed the idea of gang culture in the town.
Town inspector Eric Evans said he was keen to reassure people in the area — claiming that "Llanelli does not have a gang problem".
The 46-year-old made the comment just two months after town centre police vowed to clamp down on gang behaviour, following a vandalism attack on a Marble Hall Road resident.
Jessica Harries, aged 19, woke up to find her car tyres had been slashed, her windscreen wipers had been bent out of place and the initials LLC had been spray-painted along the side of her vehicle.
It is believed the letters stand for Llanelli Lunatic Crew, and the LLC logo can be seen painted onto various buildings around town.
But Mr Evans said the public had nothing to fear from the group.
"There are a group of males who call themselves the LLC," he admitted.
"But they are not an organised criminal gang in any shape or form.
"They are probably just a group of individuals who meet in the pub."

“Well said Medusa, I have heard shelf fillers in supermarkets swearing and nothing said, I have heard children telling Police they cant do anything because of the offenders age, I was told by Police that damage caused to our house was best forgotten as the age of the offender and the fact the parents were on benefits meant that we would not be compensated for damage caused, so we would be throwing good money after bad, what chance society! NON”

“During the reign of Blair & his cronies, people have come to accept being spoken to rudely, they accept being sworn at; they simply walk on by, because we don't have much choice!
These yobs don't know what it's like to be challenged by those they are offending, so they learn to be "untouchable". And thanks to the (so-called) Law of the land; it is the victim whom ends up on the wrong side of the law.
So we allow this bad behaviour to continue in the knowledge that the police can't/won't help those who are being harrassed, so people are becoming victims, and I believe that we have all had enough. Things will blow!”
