Pals mourning after death of 'legend' Gavin who was found dead near his home
Locals in the Llundain Fach area of Felinfoel have been left stunned after Gavin Evans's body was discovered in a field near his home on Saturday.
Police say there were no suspicious circumstances.
Lifelong pal Damien Davies, aged 23, who is just back from serving in Afghanistan, said: "He was a legend in his own right and a great guy.
"He will be sadly missed by all the boys and girls. We are a tight-knit group in Llundain Fach. He would get on with everybody and loved being with his mates. It is an awful thing to happen.
"He loved socialising, and rugby and football. Gav was a really nice fella."
Llanelli rural councillor John Evans said the tragedy had stunned the community.
He said: "He was out with everybody on Friday night. It is a great pity.
"He was a nice boy. He would always talk to you, this has shocked the community.
"You see someone laughing and joking, and the next thing, something like that. You can't think what's caused it."
Councillor Evans said his thoughts were with Mr Evans's family, his mother, Tanya, and uncles, Ian, Neil and Paul, and his sister, Ashlee-Ann.
Tributes to Mr Evans have also been pouring onto a memorial page set up on the Facebook website. It already has almost 700 members.
Robbie Johns wrote: "Rest In Peace Gav. A very special person who will be greatly missed by all."
Kevin Dobson wrote: "Gav, have only really known you for a couple of years, but you were an amazing person."
Debbie Messaggiero wrote: "I can't believe it's true. You are going to be missed more than you'd ever imagined."
A Dyfed-Powys Police spokesman said: "Dyfed- Powys Police received a call at approximately 10.30am on Saturday that a man's body had been found in a field in the Llundain Fach area. There are no suspicious circumstances."
